Places that better control COVID fare far better keeping their economies running.

That's because when countries fail to control COVID, hospital are overrun and freezer trucks line up outside nursing homes to keep pace with the dead and dying, which then forces full-scale shutdown that do more damage to the economy and inflict more collateral damage to other health care needs.

So smart countries prevent and minimize spread by targeted intervention, whether that be requiring the use of masks or shutting down high-risk, marginal utility settings that otherwise become sources of super-spreading events.

I know this is beyond your capacity to understand, that you believe in free enterprise as it existed in the latter part of the 19th-century before smarter and saner people rose up to insist that we require business to live up to the values that are important to most of us.

But I am grateful that you remind the rest of us how dangerous are the policies you push, and those sorts of reminder, multiplied by other knuckle-draggers, is what propelled Joe Biden to the most votes in American history and a landslide win in the Electoral College, at least landslide in the sense the Trump cult uses that term.
